SLUTWALK Documentary

ELF member, Claire Scoresby-Barrow is making a documentary about the SlutWalk. She has filmed the events of the London Slutwalk and interviewed some of the speakers from the day. In these interviews, Claire focuses on the themes surrounding the Slutwalk and why it was necessary for the simple message of “yes means yes, no means no” to be reiterated.

The main aim of the documentary is to celebrate an inspiring campaign/movement and to raise awareness of rape prejudice, female objectification and women’s safety. The underlying questions of the film will be: what does it mean to be a slut and what does it mean to be a feminist today?

If you would like to get involved in the documentary, Claire would love to hear from you. It does not matter what your field is, whether you have passionate views or insightful personal experience, Claire would love to hear it: csbarrow87@hotmail.co.uk and her number is 07872491708.

Mary on the Green Campaign

MARY on the GREEN is a campaign, organised by Newington Green Action Group, to raise funds to erect a memorial to Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-97), founder of the campaign for the freedom and equality of women, on Newington Green, London, N16.

If you would like to see a statue of Mary Wollstonecraft on Newington Green in London, there are several ways you can get involved. Whether you help out by donating money, spreading the word or contacting the Action Group with your comments, all interest will be appreciated!

£260,000 is needed for the project.

Go to http://www.maryonthegreen.org/getinvolved.html for more information.

Skills Audit

Our organisation IS its membership and we can only be as strong as we are together.  To get a better idea of what we want to achieve as a group, how we want to get there and what our abilites are, we are conducting an audit of the skills/experiences/motivation of the women who have shown an interest so far.

Skills can involve anything from being a trained accountant to being a good listener, we will be sending round case studies and a questionnaire soon.  If you want to help with the audit or have an idea of how you would like to be involved in the group then please contact Jennifer on 07540 079685 or jen_oliver85@hotmail.com.
